All Saints Curriculum
At All Saints we are very proud of our broad and balanced curriculum which caters for children aged 3-11 years. Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum (2014), which gives a framework for in-depth learning in all subjects through the programmes of study.
We have created an ambitious curriculum, which at its heart has the aim of giving all children, especially vulnerable pupils, the knowledge and cultural capital they need to fulfil their unique potential. We have identified 6 core skills, which are threaded throughout our curriculum, that children develop across each subject.
The children become experts at applying these skills through the lens of each subject. In addition to this, the carefully sequenced and progressive knowledge, culminates in ambitious preparation for KS3 and also later life.
Our motto is ‘Beginning, Becoming, Belonging, Believing’ (our four ‘Bs’) which summarises the learning journey that our children will embark on during their time with us. This journey will result in proficient readers, writers and mathematicians, who have a sound understanding of technology and who are creative. In order to achieve this, we have identified clearly defined curriculum drivers (rooted in our Christian values) which underpin each unit of work.
‘Big Questions’ enable our children to draw upon an increasingly broad range of knowledge and skills to articulate their responses. By applying their learning to open-ended questions, children are able to explore their own ideas with others, give reasoned explanations and understand different viewpoints; this work helps to develop a deeper understanding fundamental British Values.
